Psychology of religion
Coral Tree Publishing grew out of a free-lance copywriting and media consultancy started by Henry Mann while a graduate student at Cape Town University. However, it took another 15 years of hard living outside of the ivory tower of academia and the happy meeting of minds with Anette Johansson while visiting South Africa from Sweden, before Coral Tree was born.
The fusion of Henry's background in the psychology of religion and studies in mysticism, combined with Anette's innate generosity of spirit and love of books, resulted in the birth of their first baby- Love Stream. The company logo is named after the eponymous indigenous tree in our garden: a deciduous tree symbolizing rebirth, with heart-shaped leaves and masses of apricot-red flowers in spring: as warm and colourful as Africa itself.
